How Much Green Power Does Sacramento Use?
One of the driving forces behind green-energy solutions is the Sacramento and Bay area company, Intel. Intel was ranked as the number one green-power purchaser in the country by the Environmental Protection Agency, and the company has served as an ally with the city of Sacramento in finding more green energy sources.
Currently, Sacramento has a number of initiatives aimed at generating more green power. Residents of the city are encouraged to use solar power in their homes, and they are offered reduced rates by the city to make the switch from traditional energy sources. The city has established a wind field that harnesses energy from the wind just outside of the city limits, and many of the city's departments run on as much as 40 percent green power.
Sacramento is continuing the push toward using more green power and looking to expand its growth regarding alternative energy sources.
