Popular California Newspapers

As the state capitol, Sacramento sees much of the action published in newspapers statewide. From political debates to state employment business and everything in between, the city at the junction of two rivers never has a dull moment.
The little sister
Sacramento is often overshadowed by its louder, more boisterous neighbors: San Francisco, 90 miles to the west and Los Angeles, 400 miles to the south. Between these three major cities, the news is covered from every angle.
Words on the page
The main newspaper in Sacramento is the Sacramento Bee. It is one of the many daily papers published in California by the McClatchy publishing group. While this is the local paper, it is still often put aside by local readers for papers from larger cities. These include the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Los Angeles Times.
News that matters
With the exception of the New York Times, all of these papers cover news that is important to residents of California. They each have a specialized team of reporters that is specifically assigned to cover the day to day happenings in the capitol building, in addition to the more newsworthy events.
Local coverage
The Sacramento Bee also provides more local news to its readers, covering the entire Sacramento metropolitan area. This is in contrast to the other papers, which provide local coverage of their home cities.
While there are many newspaper choices in the state capitol of California, the three biggest sellers are the Sacramento Bee, the San Francisco Chronicle and the Los Angeles Times.
