The Sacramento area hosts several exciting festivals throughout the year. The Sacramento Zoo presents an Earth Fest celebration on April 7, with many opportunities for children to learn about conservation and the environment. The popular Sacramento Valley Scottish Games and Festival, held at the Yolo County Fairgrounds in Woodland, is happening on April 28 and 29. Music lovers always enjoy the Sacramento Music Festival, formerly known as the Sacramento Jazz Festival and Jubilee, which takes place over Memorial Day Weekend (May 25-28), with concerts and events throughout Old Sac and the downtown area, including a fun opening day parade on Friday.

For summer entertainment, do not miss the Alameda Park Street Art and Wine Fest, which comes to Auburn Boulevard on July 28 and 29. You can also celebrate your favorite fruit by attending the Banana Festival at William Land Park on August 10-12, featuring local entertainment and lots of banana-themed fun for the whole family. The Sacramento World Music and Dance Festival takes place over the first weekend of October, attracting performers from all over the world to the Festival's outdoor stages. If you love athletics, the city hosts marathons and runs just about every month, ranging from the four-mile Donut Dash (on March 24, raising money for the Children’s Center at Sutter Memorial Hospital) to the Golden State Triathlon & Super Sprint Triathlon (on October 7).

Sacramento's great weather means that residents and visitors can enjoy many outdoor events year-round. With this much going on, you can fill your calendar with plenty of outdoor fun in Sacramento!
